🧩 Tile Term Explained: Frost Resistant
As the colder months set in, it's important to think about how your tiles will cope with changing weather. You may come across the term frost-resistant when browsing outdoor tiles.
This means the tile has been designed to withstand freezing and thawing without cracking or breaking. Tiles with low water absorption are much more durable in winter conditions, as they prevent trapped moisture from expanding into ice and causing damage.
If you're planning a patio, pathway, or any outdoor space, frost-resistant tiles are a must-have for keeping your surfaces safe, strong and stylish all year round!
🎆 Fun Fact: Bonfire Edition
Did you know fireworks can burn hotter than 1000℃, but heat-resistant tiles can handle up to 600℃ and frost-resistant tiles can brave freezing winter nights without a crack!

🧣 Winter Prep
Now's the time to make sure your tiles are ready for colder, wetter weather.
Outdoors
Start by inspecting tiled areas such as patios, porches and garden paths. Check for cracks or loose tiles, as these can let in water that may freeze and cause further damage. A quick clean to remove dirt and debris will also help prevent slippery surfaces once the frost sets in.
Indoors
Give tiled floors a thorough clean to lift any residue that can become slippery when wet. A household cleaner will help preserve the finish without dulling the surface. If you have underfloor heating, remember to increase the temperature gradually to avoid thermal shock, especially with large-format tiles.
A few simple checks and small maintenance steps now can save you from costly repairs later, keeping your tiles looking great all winter long!
❤️ We hope you've found some inspiration for your next project. With the changing season, it's the perfect time to give your space a refresh. See you next month!
